ANGELO DA ROSA
I was born in Florianopolis, Brazil. In 1996 I was accepted onto my university degree course in nutrition at UFSC. Here, I became increasingly interested in the mind and brain, prompting my masters studies in neuroscience and behaviour at the same university. Around this time I also completed a Yoga instructor training. During my masters I conducted research into the mechanism of action of antidepressants. I finished my masters in 2003 and then moved abroad to Spain where I embarked upon my PhD in Neuropharmacology at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in 2007. Here, I continued my research into the mechanisms of action of antidepressants and branched into research in neuroprotection (mechanisms of protection of brain cells) and pain. Following the completion of my PhD, I moved to the USA and worked with brain imaging and lipid signalling in the brain at the National Institute of Health campus in Bathesda, MD. Initially, I lived near Bathesda, Rockville Maryland. I then moved to Charleston South Carolina and worked at the Medical University of South Carolina until 2012, researching electrophysiology (measurements of the electrical activity of cells or tissues) and cardiac cells. After a failed attempt to move back to Brazil in 2012, I moved back to Charleston. In 2014, I moved to Plymouth in the UK as a research fellow at the University of Plymouth, researching the white matter in the brain.  In 2017, I moved to Leeds where I researched skeletal muscle cells and electrophysiology at the University of Leeds. After a short passage at the University of Cambridge in 2019, researching mechanical sensations in the gut using electrophysiology I moved to Sales. I have an increasing interest in Psychology and Counselling, their application to relationships, sales and life in general. I have two sons that I love, Luis and Benjamin. I now live in Cambridge with my dog Rosie, and my partner Rachel.
